| So I just had a moment of WHOA WTF IS ON MY ARM but then I realized it was my hair. *facepalm*
Actually I've had worse moments of stupidity this week, namely when I was changing a CD in my car while in the garage and I accidentally took my foot off the brakes and was suddenly all "WAIT WHY IS THE GARAGE MOVING?" It's almost as bad as when I wonder where my keys are while I'm driving (which has to happen about once a week). & then there was a fricking deer in the middle of the road when I was driving home from dance last night, but thankfully I didn't hit it.
School is going all right, I guess. The greatest part is definitely senior pass so that I can go places during my lunches. It's especially nice when we can sit outside when it's warm out. It's also nice not having to worry about signing out and passes. Especially after the incident the day before we got senior pass when the nun in the library was refusing to let me leave the library to go back to the cafeteria. It took rather a lot of convincing on my part (I'm not in study hall! I'm in lunch! I was just getting an assignment! I'm not eating during this lunch period because I already ate lunch earlier today!) before I could go back. But thanks to senior pass, I don't have to worry about getting trapped in the library anymore!
My normal schedule is pretty much back in motion now, what with school and dance. I pretty much got my ass kicked in jazz/lyrical on Tuesday. I still can't sit down without experiencing pain. I need new legs. I've also realized that every other week I'll be spending 7 days a week at the studio (since I have reperatory company rehearsals on Wednesday now, and Christmas show rehearsals starting next Sunday probably, and helping with classes every other Saturday morning). But it's all good. It's the last year I'll be able to do so anyway. :(
|
| I just read a fic that managed to do a crossover between Pirates of the Caribbean and Firefly, with the pairing of Norrington/River, and it was actually pretty good. Crack pairings FTW. (Another crack pairing I read recently: Tseng/coffee. Then again, most pairings that involve inanimate objects end up being amusing one way or another.)
I've also been on an icon-making spree. I've discovered the wonderful world of brushes, and it's about on the same level of awesomeness as when I discovered textures and LOL GRADIENT FLARE YAY. I'm also experimenting with different methods of coloring rather than just hitting "color enhance" which is what I used to do because I was lazy. Needless to say, this means I've uploaded some new icons, one of which features a brush that I made myself. I'm rather proud of my mad GIMP skillz.
Meanwhile, when I haven't been being somewhat of a geek I've had my first three days of life as a high school senior which is pretty awesome. Most of my classes are great. AP English 12 pretty much pwns AP English 11, I've decided... although we haven't really done much so maybe I'll have to withhold that judgment? Although the fact that we took three tests over the first two days of school was not fun. Latin continues to be awesome; there are only 11 of us and since when is Latin not awesome anyway? Contemporary American Studies is also a lot of fun; today in that class I learned that our generation's children are going to be hippies that will probably hate us. Awesome.
I've also recently discovered that I have somewhat of a fetish for guys with books, which suddenly explains my love for Zexion, Sawyer, and Genesis. And I suppose Desmond, because of the whole "Our Mutual Friend is the last book I'm going to read before I die" thing. And Ben, although I don't love him in the sense that he's attractive. (I still can't think of anything that explains my irrational love of Sephiroth, though, except for the fact that he was actually a pretty nice guy before he went batshit.)
... Yeah, why am I talking about things like that when nobody cares?
Now I've got to take a shower before going to the senior class lock-in, which will be loads of fun because what's not fun about hanging out with your class all night with games and such?

| In addition to Thursday, today is also 8/13. Yes, there is significance to this, but it involves me being an Organization XIII fangirl and nobody wants to hear about that, yeah?
My life has been pretty low-key lately, except for last weekend when I went "camping" (and I use the term very loosely because it was basically sleeping outside in a tent at a lake house) with a few girls from my dorm at ASP. It was my friend Kate's family's lake house, so a bunch of her family was up there too. It was a good time. There were many Adventures including bonfires, tubing, boat rides, offroading, running around in the dark trying to scare each other, being in two places at once, card games, antique stores, photo ops, ice cream, and trying not to die while barreling down a dirt road hill at about 55 miles per hour. Eventually I will have pictures up on Facebook.
Other than that weekend adventure, though, I've just been hanging out at home. (& my brother and I will be the only ones home until Sunday, so if anyone wants to come keep me company...) I've also realized that I have less than two weeks now before school starts and so I really have to finish up my summer homework... but most of the time I'm really, really lazy about it. I've already done enough work this summer, damn it.
Oh, and yesterday I got a new pair of glasses because my current pair has a prescription that's five years old and so they really don't help me that much anymore. I still won't be wearing glasses that much, but it'll be nice to not have to put in my contacts if I want to be able to see while I'm lounging around the house.
Obligatory geek!note: Crisis Core music is fricking awesome, Sephiroth is my Omnicidal Maniac lover, and I wish I had a DS so that I could satisfy my love for the Organization with Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. I guess I can just hope for a PS2 release, just like Chain of Memories came out for the PS2 when I wasn't paying attention.
|
| ASP is nearly over. SO SAD :( :( :( but I'm also looking forward to coming back home. Two things that have made my day over the past two days: #1. Yesterday afternoon I was walking on the wooded path from my dorm to the athletic center and there was a guy walking down the path with a guitar playing and singing "I Will Follow You Into the Dark." #2. This morning there were banana pancakes for breakfast. Not only are banana pancakes delicious, but it totally made me think of an OrgLIX reference with Mansex Xemnas's haiku: "Don't be so foolish / I don't know what to write here / Banana pancakes."
Also, I learned that umbrellas break when you try to use them as lightsabers. Even though they may project like lightsabers, they do not swing like them. - Tags:asp

| So in procrastinating my homework I found this lovely little gem posted on the BtN Lounge: http://www.thepregnancytester.com. ( apparently i had sex with the pope )I find it hilarious that it has the pope's last name as Pope. Also, when the pope was declared as my baby daddy, there was hilarious picture of the pope facepalming. (... Yeah, I definitely have to get back to work.) | |
|
| I saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince with most of my Ancient Greek class today. It's the first time I haven't seen a Harry Potter movie on its premiere day since Prisoner of Azkaban, but oh well. ( SPOILER ALERT: SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE )I think that should just about cover things for now. I'll be seeing it again with my mum after ASP is over, so I'll probably notice even more things then. | |
|
| I got a 5 on my AP English Exam. (Which my mum just informed me via e-mail with much exclamation point abuse.) I... am so glad all that AP practice was worth it. This, combined with the A that I somehow managed on the final, makes me no longer harbor any lasting resentment toward that class.
In other news, yesterday I thought that pressing all the buttons on my watch at the same time would be a good solution for getting it off some strange setting that it somehow ended up in. Pressing all the buttons makes the watch reset, and now I have no idea how to stop the watch from thinking that it's 9:38 on January 1st. I was just starting to get really reliant on watches, too. Oh well.
I guess I should read Antigone now. Yay plays featuring Oedipus' daughter/half-sister. (Oh, and I realized that ancient Greeks were very much in support of the Fred/George shipper slogan: "If you can't keep it in your pants, at least keep it in the family. High-class Athenians just loved to marry their cousins.)

| Two things that I've learned so far regarding ASP: Nametags and fruit breaks are Serious Business.
I really like my classes. Ancient Greece is a lot of fun; right now we're doing an overview on the gods and creation, along with learning the Greek alphabet. I can transliterate things from Greek to English now. Our intern is really big into languages as far as I can tell, so we're going to be doing a bit of learning the language as well, which is good for me the language lover. Today we were talking about exciting things such as how Kronos castrated Ouranos with a sickle, and how Freud's theories relate to mythology (which includes how apparently every woman wants a penis and men are afraid of women because of "vagina denta" which means vagina with teeth. Oh, the images there.)
My other class is Writing Workshop. in which we prepare to do lots of personal writing (to have stuff prepared for writing college application essays). We had to read an article last night and discuss the argument that the writer makes, so I totally put on my AP English hat and was all RHETORICAL ANALYSIS FTW! (Speaking of English, I got a 93 on my final, yay! Not quite sure how that happened...)
Also, many people have decided that the St. Paul's campus = Hogwarts. It totally is, though, except there are no house-elves and ghosts and we can't do magic. There's even a kid named Harry Potter in the program. There's also a kid who apparently looks like Edward Cullen according to a girl in my dorm. It's a magical place here at SPS ASP.

| So here's what I did while putting off finishing my homework: ( colorbars! )They're surprisingly easy to make; the hardest part is resizing all the images (especially for the FFX one because I had to capture all the images from video files). Then after that all I had to do was go into GIMP, adjust the colors/brightness/contrast if needed and then run a rainbow gradient across it. Stay tuned; I may be making more. I've also uploaded a couple of new icons that I made this weekend, including a new default one. I'm rather proud of my texture use on this one, and also that on this particular batch of icons I refrained from being all LOL GRADIENT FLARE YAY! Only five more days left of school, and then exams. This year has gone by so fast. We should be getting our schedules for next year this week. I'm taking AP English Literature, Honors Latin IV, Honors Precalc, Honors Physics, whatever the quarter-long senior theology courses are (I know two of them are World Religions and Ethics), Contemporary American Studies, and Anatomy, in case anybody wants to know. I also went to graduation yesterday. I was part of the water crew which was pretty much the best job ever because we were under a tent and surrounded by water coolers so we could have a drink whenever we wanted, and we got to socialize with a lot of people. Except we were the one job that didn't get any recognition over the announcements this afternoon thanking all the students that helped out with graduation. PEOPLE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN DEHYDRATED IF I T WASN'T FOR US, DAMN IT. Over the weekend I found a good site for watching movies online. It pretty much has every movie you could ever want to watch, except it directs you to brightly colored Asian websites to watch them. So on Saturday I watched Serenity (the movie sequel to the TV show Firefly) and it was pretty awesome, except WASH FRICKING DIED and then right after it happened I had to go eat dinner... it was almost as bad as the time I had to go on a tour of the Ben & Jerry's factory in Vermont right after Dumbledore died. Anyway, next time I have a large chunk of time free I'm going to watch Fantasia, which I haven't seen since I was probably between the ages of 8 and 10 and pretty much one of the only reasons I want to watch it is for the Nightmare Fuel-inducing "Night on Bald Mountain" segment because let's face it, that song is awesome. (& of course there's the Sorceror's Apprentice segment with Mickey Mouse and the moving brooms.) Oh, and I started organizing one of my storylines into an actual story. Let's see how far I can get with it. | |
|
| I've realized that I don't use this userpic very often and now I'm wondering why that is because it's a very pretty userpic, probably one of my favorites that I've created. (Though the rainbow gradient flare is a little much, but especially when I first started using GIMP I was all LOL GRADIANT FLARE YAY!) I'm in the mood to list things off so here are some of my ramblings. ( ten things about my life, some of which no one cares about )Uh, yeah, pardon my rambling. I think I'm going to be productive now and finish my Roaring Twenties packet for history. | |
