there's no place i can be since i found serenity
I downloaded myself a new image editing program, GIMP, which works kind of similarly to Photoshop but it's FREE. So I've spent the past 2.5 or so hours making icons, mainly experimenting with textures and lighting effects. I haven't uploaded any of them yet because I suffer from enough icon ADD as it is, so maybe once I get tired of my current yoinked set of icons I'll start using my own again. But I can share them, icon-post style!

Fandoms: Firefly x2, Lost  x4, Final Fantasy X x1, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children x2, Kingdom Hearts x2

Also, I've discovered a shiny new (well, not so new since it only aired in 2002) show called Firefly, which is a sci-fi show that tells the adventures and misadventures of the crew of a transport ship called Serenity. It's pretty awesome and has some really amusing moments. Also, all of the characters are awesome which is good too. Anyway, I was going to watch an episode before going to bed, but it's getting rather late and I don't know if I can stay awake.

Those are actually pretty cool, despite the fact that I don't care about Lost of Final Fantacy. O.o

Gimp is awesome. But you know, there's also a free version of Photoshop that don't include everything but has most things and it much closer to the real photoshop so it might be easier to use. Just a suggestion.

I've tried searching for free versions of Photoshop, but I haven't really found anything. I'm figuring things out on GIMP quickly anyway.

I downloaded GIMP last year when I was making my dad's logo...except that I fail at that type of thing, so I never figured it out very well, and everything took me way longer than it would have if I'd actually known how to use it. Maybe you can teach me sometime!

It wasn't too hard for me because I've worked a lot with Photoshop, which is similar. Basically all I'm working with right now is pasting layers and fiddling with the opacity so that the different patterns show through, adjusting color and contrast, sharpening the images, and using the Gradient Lens tool (which is how I get the little bursts of light on some of the icons, like the top right and bottom right ones).

I should make tutorials or something. :)
