So I just had a moment of WHOA WTF IS ON MY ARM but then I realized it was my hair. *facepalm*

Actually I've had worse moments of stupidity this week, namely when I was changing a CD in my car while in the garage and I accidentally took my foot off the brakes and was suddenly all "WAIT WHY IS THE GARAGE MOVING?" It's almost as bad as when I wonder where my keys are while I'm driving (which has to happen about once a week). & then there was a fricking deer in the middle of the road when I was driving home from dance last night, but thankfully I didn't hit it.

School is going all right, I guess. The greatest part is definitely senior pass so that I can go places during my lunches. It's especially nice when we can sit outside when it's warm out. It's also nice not having to worry about signing out and passes. Especially after the incident the day before we got senior pass when the nun in the library was refusing to let me leave the library to go back to the cafeteria. It took rather a lot of convincing on my part (I'm not in study hall! I'm in lunch! I was just getting an assignment! I'm not eating during this lunch period because I already ate lunch earlier today!) before I could go back. But thanks to senior pass, I don't have to worry about getting trapped in the library anymore!

My normal schedule is pretty much back in motion now, what with school and dance. I pretty much got my ass kicked in jazz/lyrical on Tuesday. I still can't sit down without experiencing pain. I need new legs. I've also realized that every other week I'll be spending 7 days a week at the studio (since I have reperatory company rehearsals on Wednesday now, and Christmas show rehearsals starting next Sunday probably, and helping with classes every other Saturday morning). But it's all good. It's the last year I'll be able to do so anyway. :(

I've realized that I don't use this userpic very often and now I'm wondering why that is because it's a very pretty userpic, probably one of my favorites that I've created. (Though the rainbow gradient flare is a little much, but especially when I first started using GIMP I was all LOL GRADIANT FLARE YAY!)

I'm in the mood to list things off so here are some of my ramblings.

ten things about my life, some of which no one cares about )
Uh, yeah, pardon my rambling. I think I'm going to be productive now and finish my Roaring Twenties packet for history.

I've decided that Photoshop is freakin' AWESOME. I could make so many cool icons if I had Photoshop. The reason that I am basking in the glory of Photoshop is because I started my Media Design class today, and we basically spent most of the period playing around with our pictures in Photoshop, and GAHH SO EXCITING.

Also, Tuesday dance classes have become extremely hazardous, because I injured myself about four times in the span of forty-five minutes this evening. First I somehow manage to get a floorburn of some sort on my knee (through my tights), and so that starts bleeding. Then, I'm doing a tilt and my standing leg kind of slides out from underneath me and BAM! I crumple onto the floor (no real injury there, though, just me falling on my bum). Then at some point during lyrical I opened up the scab from the floorburn I got on my right foot last week, so that starts bleeding. Then I was doing a shoulder roll and my left foot banged right into the heater vent. Oh, and my right shoulder hurts from doing all the shoulder rolls. Dance is a HAZARD TO MY HEALTH.

(Also, one of my jazz costumes this year is a belly-dance outfit from India. I have a feeling that's going to be a very hot outfit for everybody to dress up in at my house. It's got jingly gold things. It's pretty awesome.)

Snow day tomorrow, Y/Y?

So this week I'm helping with dance camp for 3-10 year olds, and I'm in charge of 10 three- to five-year-olds, and although they are extremely cute most of them have no attention spans whatsoever. I'm already sick of saying "You'll see your mom soon!" and "Go sit/stand over there!" and I still have four days left.

I'm re-reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows right now and have found delight in the fact that one of the Latin spells seems to be incorrect. The spell is Homenum revelio, described by Hermione as a spell to reveal human presence. The problem? "Homenum" is an incorrect declension of homo, meaning human; it should be "hominem," since it's a singular, accusative, third-declension noun. So not only is the ending wrong, the base is wrong as well. "Revelio" is also incorrect; the correct verb should be "revelo," meaning "I uncover." So either JKR really messed up on her Latin or it was deliberately supposed to be wrong. (At least it's not as bad as some of those self-made spells used by fanfiction authors; one particular horrible one I've come across is Reverso mio sexio. The correct Latin would be Inverto meum sexum, darling, and why the hell do wizards need a spell to change their genders? Why can't they do it Cloud-style and run around gathering various items of "sexy" womanly attire?) /Latin geek, with a bit of "Final Fantasy VII" geek thrown in at the end

Speaking of "Final Fantasy VII," I've obtained a much better version of the game script, which I've been reading and quite enjoying. Once I've exhausted being positively badass at "Final Fantasy X" (my Yuna is pretty much pwnage, which is spelled S-A-Y-I-D J-A-R-R-A-H, because she can cause 50,000-80,000 damage per turn with her black/holy magic, knows pretty much every white magic spell in the game, can summon aeons such as Anima, who is pretty much victory in the form of a butt-ugly fish-mummy thing; can cause 10,000-20,000 damage per turn with physical attacks, AND has fairly high defense and evasion to boot!), I think I'd really like to get my grubby little hands on "Final Fantasy VII" because it seems like it will suck in my soul once I stop laughing at its inevitably bad graphics (though apparently they're extremely good for a game released in 1997). There are a few sketchy parts in it, though (like when Aerith and Cloud have to go into sketchy prostitute land to save Tifa - with Cloud dressed up as a girl!), and then of course there's Cid (the same Cid from the "Kingdom Hearts" games) who just loves his colorful expletives. But it also has Sephiroth, who's a frickin' lunatic and has the best ending battle theme song EVER (VENI, VENI, VENIAS! NE ME MORI FACIAS!) which inevitably came into my head whenever I was conjugating "venio" or any io or fourth conjucation subjunctive in Latin this year. And there's also a character named Elena in it, though I swear that I didn't name my character Elena after her. It's just one of those happy coincidences.

Well, this is interesting. I was just looking up Imperio in my Latin dictionary and there is no Latin word "imperio." The closest is "imperito," meaning "I command." Innnnnteresting. I wonder how many other Harry Potter spells are incorrectly Latin (barring Avada Kedavra, which wasn't Latin to begin with, I believe). Well, at least I know that Tergeo, Crucio, Expulso and Accio are correct, since I've already looked those up.

And, not meaning to mock Harry Potter further, but here are some things that I've found amusing so far in HP&DH (this will likely be an ongoing list featured in my next few entries):

Okay, so lj-cut has officially decided to hate my bulleted lists so let's just see how this turns out. Fixed. Yay!

Charlie's face in my icon = my brain right now. If you looked at my brain right now, it would probably look EXACTLY like that.

Recital was yesterday, which is always a day full of ZOMGCRAZY, especially when there's poor planning in the lineup of the 2:00 show and you have to do three dances in the span of less than ten minutes. The 2:00 show also saw a slight wardrobe malfunction (not me, thankfully), but it was gracefully remedied without too many people noticing. We all made sure our "It Don't Mean a Thing" costumes were securely tied and double-knotted at the neck for the 7:00 show, though. And afterwards wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Probably because I know that the seniors will be back. They'll always come back.

And, speaking of coming back...

I have a feeling there is a lot more theorizing that I can do, but I've got to do homework and indulge the plot bunnies in my head, which are telling me to write grief-fests and a strange man appearing on Soalis Island telling Perrin that he and Keira must return to Arx Chalybs and blow stuff up. No, I am not heavily inspired by Lost. Especially when I try to incorporate references to Lost as much as possible.

The Juno soundtrack is full of amusement. Some of the lyrics are just so randomly funny. It makes me giggle.

Another thing that makes me giggle is The Importance of Being Serious Earnest. (The crossed-out Serious is a reference to [info]shoebox_project, when Remus is having sexual literary dreams about Sirius. It's one of my favorite parts ever.) It's amusing, which is a first when it comes to things read in Brit Lit (I'm not counting the strange glee that I get from angsty!Heathcliff). Of course, there's other amusements outside of class, such as Alix's secret love for Mr. Cullity, but I'm not going to go into that.

Also? I started a new writing project, which I affectionately call Writing Is Fun! I realized on Sunday that writing for me lately has been almost like a chore, so I've started this new project that is designed to be very laid-back and not, you know, causing brain-hurt. (I'm not allowed to touch the "Word Count" button for this. I've discovered that I have an unhealthy relationship with Word Count.) But for this project, I have to find a name for Perrin's father pretty damn fast. At least I've come up with a surname for him (Cloudchaser, which I unashamedly admit is taken from the name of one of the gummi ship songs in KHII), which makes Aurin even more out of the question for him because then I'd be referencing two Final Fantasy characters (Auron and Cloud) in one name and that's not good. So now I have to come up with a better name.

Well. I've got to get ready for dance in 15 minutes and I still have stuff to do =/ I'll end with some Juno soundtrack lyrics: "I like my new bunny suit / I like my new bunny suit / I like my new bunny suit / When I wear it I feel cute."

[ETA: I have a blister on my toe and it's annoying. *sulk* And my feet also feel their normal Tuesday-night pain that comes after dancing barefoot for two hours. Tuesday dance can be hellish sometimes. Also, I think I'm going to change my layout again. I have layout ADD, I think]

Also, I must tell the story of the Inflatable Boyfriend (which I started to tell Shaylagh on the way from Latin but she ran away from me because it was raining). So Wednesday was my dance friend Alex's birthday, and apparently one of her school friends gave her an inflatable boyfriend. So yesterday she brought it to dance to show us all. Its name is Raoul, it is about three feet tall, and it's pretty ugly. It has a weird face, bright red hair, and chest hair that is actually more like rib hair. Needless to say, we were making fun of Alex because of it. It even comes with an instruction booklet, which apparently is pretty amusing as well. So yeah. One of us definitely needs to get one of those.

Well, considering this window's been sitting here for half an hour and I haven't been doing anything with it, I suppose I have nothing else to say. Ah well.

I have survived two shows of "Polly's Penguin Christmas" (I'm also using capital letters now! Hee!). It's utter craziness, though, because there are so many quick changes. I'm in charge of changing two people, and thankfully nothing went wrong with that (I was almost in charge of pinning on a Chinese wig, but I realized that I'd totally screw that up, so now I just have to deal with the screwed-up buttons on the Chinese shirts). So yesterday was exhausting, but a lot of fun too. There have been so many funny backstage moments, but I won't share them because a.) I can't remember all of them and b.) most of them are only funny if you were there.  I'm not going to know if this afternoon's show, however, is going to happen until 1:00. Nicki and Cheryl have every intention to hold the show, but it's ultimately up to the Marshwood principal as to whether the school's going to open, be plowed out, etc.

I have two essays to write by Wednesday, and I have started neither one. I probably should start them today because I have a Thursday dance schedule tomorrow (which means four hours of class), so that would only leave Tuesday night, and I am not going to write two essays the night before they're due.

I've found a whole new realm of geek!music: piano versions of "Kingdom Hearts" and "Final Fantasy" music! They are so awesome. The "Hollow Bastion" piano version is insanely spastic. I love it.

Also? I love my new icon. I got the idea for it while hearing "SexyBack" on the radio, and I realized that the part that goes "get your sexy on" sounds like "get your Zexion," but I changed it to "get your Zexy on" so it made more sense.

Today's quote of the day is brought to you by "Polly's Penguin Christmas" - this is one of the lines that us penguins find very amusing while we're standing backstage roasting in our felt costumes.

Quote of the Day:

Mr S: Open it.
Polly: How can I? It's all wrapped up!

eh. i still have geometry and biology homework to do. i think i'll just do geometry before school (because there's just one proof that i can't get, and i'm not sure if i have it written down right, and my book is at school so it really doesn't help) and then start coloring my cell drawings before bed and then if i get too tired and don't finish, then i'll just finish it in lunch.

modern class today was very interesting. we were all really hyper, and we've been working on this thing where we choreograph a dance in pairs without music, and then tawni puts a random song on to which we have to do our dance. first, we have to do it with the conunts & tempo with which we've been practicing, and then we do it to another song with the music, though the tempo may be different from what we're used to. it's hard but very fun. one of the songs amanda & kasey did their dance to was "barbie girl." it was quite amusing. i think we're doing the same thing next week, as we established about a month ago that because tawni isn't going to want to actually teach because it'll be two days before her wedding, we'll just choreograph our own stuff.

also, i got principal's list =) i have four a's and two a+'s for the first quarter. geometry was barely an "a," though. (it was a 91.8 - the lowest grade for an "a" is 92.) the honor roll list isn't posted yet, though, so i don't know who else got it. actually, i know alix got it because we were talking about it at lunch. and i'm sure clarisse and meghna probably got it because they're brilliant.

i can't wait for the long weekend. i need to sleep a lot. i've been trying to go to bed earlier all week, but for various reasons (mainly writing and movie-making distractions) it hasn't been happening. of course, the fact that i have an extra day off will just make me stay up later ... =/

i almost have another whole chapter of "the power of light" done. i just have to write the beginning section and maybe a little bit at the end. then i have to figure out what i'm doing next, as i have to deviate from my original plan. well, first i have to decide whether hayden's going to be all rash and go after perrin or stay at keira's house and sleep. if she does the former, i'll have to go to a "hayden going to other worlds and not finding perrin" chapter. if she does the latter, i can probably go right to the "perrin meets talia and learns about the amulet" chapter, which is partially written. but if hayden does the first option, i get to include the "keira's left behind" chapter, which i have a couple hundred words for (but will probably have to be changed). if she does the second option, i'll have to have hayden and keira go to a world together. if i do that, they can eventually both end up in coreon and meet sari. if hayden does the first option, though, i'll have to decide whether it's hayden or keira who meets sari first. then i have to think of a good reason for sari to go along with hayden and/or keira. ehhh. this is getting complicated =/

i have 56 created icons as of right now. i might just have to upgrade to a plus account so i can have more userpics. i also may have to do a huge icon post (that is, if photobucket agrees with me). then you guys can yoink my icons (giving me credit, of course).

quote of the day:

"from the moment i met you, all those years ago, not a day has gone by when i haven't thought of you. but now that i'm with you again, i'm in agony. the closer i get to you, the worse it gets. the thought of not being with you - i can't breathe."

i uploaded a bunch of my new icons. or rather, i replaced my old ones with newer, shinier ones. i still need to make a star wars one and then i'll upload that.

i absolutely love the chinese music from "polly's penguin christmas." i'll need to ask someone what that music is, because it's awesome. i wish i was a glee!panda or an umbrella!chinese or a circus freak dragon kid. but i'm just a cool!sheep, a friend-of-condors!andean, a big!penguin, and an understudy!fortune cookie seller.

i am very proud of myself because i wrote 1,280 words last night (or early this morning - usually when i write that much i'm doing it until about 1 AM). but still. i'm very excited. i haven't written that much in one sitting since april. (i came close during the summer, but i think that was only 700-some words). the problem is that it's for "the chains of change," not "the power of light." i need to get my butt in gear and figure out what i want to do for chapter 6 of tpol. i need to decide whether hayden is going to return to soalis island or not. i think she will, but then i have to change my chapter 7 (of which i already have a little less than half written). but if hayden goes back to soalis island, then she can show keira the amulet and keira can have a zomgdejavu!moment. but if i do that, i have to change the pov to keira at some point (either within the chapter or i'll have to find a place for me to divide the chapter).

erm, please ignore my muse prattle. =/

i've wanted to watch aladdin ever since megan b.'s "still i think he's rather tasty" escapade (sarah knows what i'm talking about). i was going to watch it last night, but then i ended up being online for 3 hours, making families (bella knows what i'm talking about) and doing other various activities. so now i won't be able to watch it until this weekend. i need to get aladdin on dvd. there you go. anyone who doesn't know what to get me for my birthday, there's an idea =)

oh, and this morning i was watching the special features for star wars episode i and there was one featurette thing on the swordfight/lightsaber battles, and the main stunt coordinator guy said something like, "i wanted this scene to be like chess, only at a thousand miles an hour." i thought of bella =)

regarding my location: i know it's gramatically incorrect. but it was one of the thoughts that ran through my head during sheep rehearsal when nicki claimed that we weren't being cool enough sheep.

Quote of the Day:

"Sorry, old man. I've got some unfinished business with this puppet."
