I just read a fic that managed to do a crossover between Pirates of the Caribbean and Firefly, with the pairing of Norrington/River, and it was actually pretty good. Crack pairings FTW. (Another crack pairing I read recently: Tseng/coffee. Then again, most pairings that involve inanimate objects end up being amusing one way or another.)

I've also been on an icon-making spree. I've discovered the wonderful world of brushes, and it's about on the same level of awesomeness as when I discovered textures and LOL GRADIENT FLARE YAY. I'm also experimenting with different methods of coloring rather than just hitting "color enhance" which is what I used to do because I was lazy. Needless to say, this means I've uploaded some new icons, one of which features a brush that I made myself. I'm rather proud of my mad GIMP skillz.

Meanwhile, when I haven't been being somewhat of a geek I've had my first three days of life as a high school senior which is pretty awesome. Most of my classes are great. AP English 12 pretty much pwns AP English 11, I've decided... although we haven't really done much so maybe I'll have to withhold that judgment? Although the fact that we took three tests over the first two days of school was not fun. Latin continues to be awesome; there are only 11 of us and since when is Latin not awesome anyway? Contemporary American Studies is also a lot of fun; today in that class I learned that our generation's children are going to be hippies that will probably hate us. Awesome.

I've also recently discovered that I have somewhat of a fetish for guys with books, which suddenly explains my love for Zexion, Sawyer, and Genesis. And I suppose Desmond, because of the whole "Our Mutual Friend is the last book I'm going to read before I die" thing. And Ben, although I don't love him in the sense that he's attractive. (I still can't think of anything that explains my irrational love of Sephiroth, though, except for the fact that he was actually a pretty nice guy before he went batshit.)

... Yeah, why am I talking about things like that when nobody cares?

Now I've got to take a shower before going to the senior class lock-in, which will be loads of fun because what's not fun about hanging out with your class all night with games and such?

okay, we are going to start this entry with a little quiz question:

how is allison similar to chandler bing?
a. they have commitment issues
b. they make bad jokes all the time
c. they have a third nipple
d. they dislike thanksgiving

the correct answer is "d." (although i do make bad jokes sometimes, such as "shaylagh's ego is so big it ate clarisse!").

on monday, my mom was very close to boycotting thanksgiving altogether because she was in a bad mood and didn't want to cook anything. but then she decided that everyone else except for me would be unhappy about that, so she unfortunately sucked it up and made thanksgiving dinner. but i'll still have my lovely dinner of salad, rolls, and a grilled cheese sandwich (which my mom says she'll cook for me as our little chandler bing in-joke, as chandler is always eating non-thanksgiving food on thanksgiving). and maybe some pumpkin pie. (although i've discovered that over the past few years, my like for pumpkin pie has been diminishing. it's a sad thing, because that's the only real bit of thanksgiving food that i like.)

anyway, i think thanksgiving is a pointless holiday. i mean, how does eating turkey, potatoes, etc. show that you're thankful for things in your life? and since america is so concerned that it's an overweight country, why not boycott thanksgiving, since the point of it is to stuff yourself with food? this is why my dream husband is not going to mind having an un-traditional thanksgiving. we will eat grilled cheese sandwiches every year and give thanks for the fact that we are not part of the masses. (or we could just move to a place where thanksgiving isn't celebrated. like england!)

...in other news, "aerith's theme" is threatening to drive me into insanity. it is a song that is nineteen minutes and fifty-seven seconds long. this was pretty cool at first, but now i'm just about ready to kill it. it is pretty much the same thing repeating over and over again for almost TWENTY DAMN MINUTES. so what usually happens is that i listen to the first five or so minutes and then switch to another song.

on sunday during christmas show rehearsal, kasey made the comment that anything can be related to an episode of friends. i've discovered that this is extremely true. like on tuesday when there started to be random beeping noises occurring while i was listening to "aerith's theme," and i started in-my-head screaming at the laptop, "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?" this then reminded me of an episode of friends in which phoebe's smoke detector starts randomly beeping, and she tries to dismantle it. after she takes out the batteries, it still is beeping, so she screams at it, "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?" phoebe is very entertaining.

last night in my boredom i started playing a game in which i choose five characters at random from various fandoms and imagined what what would happen if they were locked in a room together.
yes, i do have little life. get over it. hey, i have an idea. if none of us are allowed to comment on shaylagh's spelling-challenged-ness, then none of you are able to comment on the fact that i have no life. ha!
